Katie was raised in Charleston, South Carolina, where she attended Cotillion training but was never a debutante. The city of Charleston, its unique traditions, and its bounty of men with pickup trucks have provided inspiration for her fiction. She studied writing at Brown and Columbia Universities and now lives in San Francisco, but she returns home to Charleston often.
