Jonathan Miller
The Compassionate Community:
Ten Values to Restore Faith in American Politics
Palgrave/Macmillan, 2006
Jonathan Miller is a native of Lexington, Kentucky and a graduate of Harvard College and Law School. First elected in November 1999, he is in his second term as Kentucky State Treasurer.
Miller's work has earned him national recognition. In May 2001, Treasurer Miller was appointed to the Executive Monitoring Committee of state and local financial officers which monitors the return of assets seized during the Holocaust to their rightful owners. In March 2002, Miller was one of 200 distinguished delegates appointed by President Bush and Congressional leaders to the 2002 National Summit on Retirement Savings and charged with the responsibility of developing strategies to ensure a secure and dignified retirement for all Americans. And Miller has become a national leader on the subject of corporate accountability, joining fellow Treasurers in efforts to protect shareholder and employee interests against corporate fraud and abuse and to restore confidence in the stock market.
When not performing his official duties, Miller is devoted to his community, and, most importantly, his family: his wife Lisa and their daughters, Emily and Abigail. Miller is a Sunday school teacher, a girls' Pee Wee softball coach; and he loves to play guitar and sing country music – with a voice only his daughters could love.
