As assistant managing editor (2000-present) co-writes two columns: “Real Time,” a weekly look at technology in daily life; and “The Daily Fix,” a rundown of the best sportswriting on the Web. Served as editorial-department representative on team responsible for a two-year, multimillion-dollar redesign and relaunch of the Online Journal, which has some 700,000 subscribers. Currently editorial representative on effort to redesign newsroom’s editing system. As technology editor (1997-2-000), oversaw all technology coverage for online Journal. Co-wrote “Tech Week,” offering analysis of week’s biggest technology stories. Managed a staff of five reporters and three editors in Hong Kong, Paris, New York and San Francisco. Brainstormed story ideas, edited copy, and coordinated news operation with that of the print Journal. Helped conceive and design the Online Journal’s technology section. As staff writer, 1995-1997, assembled and copy-edited wire stories and wrote own articles.

IAQ Productions, Chevy Chase, Md., 1994-1995
Began as a staff writer for trade publication addressing the identification and remediation of indoor air quality problems. Named executive editor 1995; in that capacity, was responsible for three publications covering indoor air quality and lead poisoning and managed two reporters. Also helped plan trade shows and moderated panels at those shows.
