David Philipps is an award-winning journalist based in Colorado Springs. His articles have appeared in the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, Philadelphia Enquirer, and Seattle Times, among others. He works as a feature writer at the Colorado Springs Gazette, where his work has won awards from the Associated Press, Society of Professional Journalists and Best of the West.
In 2010, Dave was named as a Pulitzer prize finalist and his manuscript for Lethal Warriors was the sole finalist of the J. Anthony Lukas Work-in-Profress award. In 2008 he was given a national first place award for best feature reporting, for his coverage of environmental issues, from the Association of Sunday and Feature Editors. He is a native of Colorado Springs, graduated from Middlebury College in 2000 and received a Masters from The Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in 2002.
