Catherine Chung was born in Evanston, IL during one of the worst blizzards on record. Since then, she has developed a love of skiing, and has lived in New York, New Jersey, Michigan, California, Korea, Germany, and France (among others). She was recently named one of Granta's New Voices, and is the recipient of a Pushcart Prize nomination and a Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Prize. Her work has appeared in Granta.com, Guernica, Quarterly West, The Journal, Sisters: An Anthology, and birdsong. A fellow of The MacDowell Colony, Hedgebrook, and The Camargo Foundation, she has also received grants from The Constance Saltonstall Foundation and The Ludwig Vogelstein Foundation. She graduated with a degree in mathematics from The University of Chicago, and has taught creative writing at The University of Leipzig and Cornell University, where she received her MFA. She lives in New York City. For now.
