Anne Landsman's second novel, The Rowing Lesson, was the winner of the Sunday Times Fiction Prize in South Africa as well as the M-Net Prize and was shortlisted for several others. Her critically acclaimed first novel, The Devil's Chimney, was nominated for four awards - the Pen/Hemingway, QPB's New Voices, the Janet Heidinger Kafka Prize and South Africa's most prestigious literary award, the M-Net Book Prize. The trade paperback was published by Penguin. Foreign editions appeared in the U.K., South Africa, the Netherlands, Denmark, Germany and Norway. She has an essay, "White Knight," in the upcoming anthology, The Honeymoon's Over: True Stories of Love, Marriage and Divorce (Warner Books, February 2007). Her work has appeared in The American Poetry Review, Bomb, Poets and Writers, The Washington Post and The Believer. She has also written several screenplays, including the screenplay adaptation of The Devil's Chimney for Africa Media Entertainment and Arena Pictures.
